The Supreme Court’s decision regarding the affordable care act was an exciting one for me. I am pretty nervous about every state being optional. I feel that it is a possibility that Arizona may end up on board with the Affordable Care Act, depending on next state elections and how they turn out. The penalty or tax or whatever they are deciding to call it is honestly still a little confusing for me. Although the states must decide on their own how to implement the ACA, we will be under penalty if we do not comply? Maybe this is just making me seem stupid, but I truly feel that the guidelines seem blurred, even in reading the different news reports provided. Although I was not able to read the last one, the Nation, because it required a subscription. I will state that I believe that the ACA is absolutely necessary and this country is long overdue for a change in the crooked and broken health care system.
I think the Supreme Court’s decision is completely ethical. They are correct. Individuals will at some point need medical attention. If emergency rooms cannot turn away individuals in need of immediate care who are uninsured who will pay for them? This isn’t a tax that comes out of your paycheck; it is something you fill in your tax return. Do you have health insurance? No? Then make a payment towards your next medical visit now. I do not have insurance as I don’t have a job, and the state insurance program is frozen for me, unless I decide to have a child out of wedlock. I haven’t been to the doctor since I lost my insurance, and I don’t think it is fair for other people to pay for my healthcare, should I get into an accident. I do not mind this tax. People who already have insurance have nothing to complain about because this does not affect them, they won’t pay a tax. And people who have chronic conditions should be overjoyed that they are now eligible for coverage when they were previously rejected. This is a good thing. It is taking personal responsibility for your actions and being independent. You have a choice, pay for the burden you put on others or take preventative action and get coverage.
After reading the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act, I felt the government made a great move on forcing people to get medical insurance and making it more accessible to everybody obtain it. The Act focused on providing insurance for everyone because, for one it will reduce the healthcare cost, and second we all will need medical help someday. The ACA promotes what they call an individual mandate which requires a person to obtain a minimum insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents. The ACT can also penalize a person from not having medical coverage, it is call the shared responsibility payment. This is not a tax, but a penalty for not having insurance. I think it works out, when the government charges people for not complying with the law. For instance, a person goes to the emergency room for some condition without insurance. The doctors and staff would have to treat them, the patient can't pay for it. Now there's a large bill that someone has to pay. I think taxpayer's should be aware of the consequences, if changes doesn't occur with our healthcare system. People with low income and who are struggling to pay their bills will have a chance to obtain health insurance. Insurance companies are not to deny applicant for any reason including any previous conditions. I think this is a great idea. People should be happy that the government gave them the opportunity to get insurance, it has been too long since a President decided to overturn the healthcare system. Medicaid will also be easier to get for people for need it and those who are sick can also have medical coverage. As one of the richest country, the United States should help consider cutting the costs of medical expenses individual and their family and help provide medical assistance when needed.
I think that the insurance companies have finally been caught by the government. I am all for the government putting legalities on the insurance companies' policies. I feel that people are just trying to get their money's worth out of the situation. Whether it's avoiding taxes or avoiding customers to cover possible financial losses, insurance companies are not doing what they can to help people. I am so glad that the government finally stepped in and put price caps and other needed procedures to finally give citizens the help they need. Companies reserve the right to refuse service people, but when their lives are on the line, people should at least consider helping people. And if they do decide to service them, insurance companies should not put such high premium prices to discourage customers. Realizing this, the government finally put price caps on the companies.
The only thing that I disagree with is the Necessary and Proper clause that still exists in today's government. The government can deem anything permissible if they can justify it as "necessary" and "proper". How is it necessary for a government to tax states that offer to give health care? I think that the government is abusing this reserved power that it has. It's only a matter of time that the government starts putting their full hand in issuing policies. When will this power that the government has will be challenged.
I believe the Supreme Court's decision on the ACA was a good choice, although there was one thing I did not totally agree with. When it comes to the individual mandate a person is required to obtain insurance and if that person fails to do so they will be fined. Well I think some of the reason people do not have health insurance is because they can not afford it, so does the government think they will be able to pay fines? I like the idea of expanding Medicaid and offering more grants to states that will participate in the expansion to help more low income and middle class families. Hopefully we will see a decrease in the cost of medical bills, but don't honestly believe things will be "affordable." I believe companies will lower the cost for purchasing insurance, but not a significant decrease on procedures, medications, or doctors visits. We live in a country of greedy men and women, I believe insurance companies will continue to make the same amount if not more money someway. Yes I believe that everyone should be insured and the reason why health care is so high is due to all the unpaid bills for people with and without insurance .I think the law means well, but still needs a little bit of work, but only time will tell what happens.
I Think that the Supreme courts decision was right. I believe that everyone needs health insurance and living day to day hoping that you dont hurt yourself or get into an accident or become majorly sick should be a worry of the American people.I am not to good with politics because it seems like there is always something underling that you missed that is an important piece that might make you change your mind whether its a good idea or not so i hope that isnt the case here. One thing that i really liked is that they can not deny you for pre existing conditions because if someone has something already wrong with them insurance companies dont want to cover them but I dont think that should matter because either way they need care. Also lots of people dont have health insurance because it is to expensive to pay for that and day to day bills hopefully the lower costs will make a positive impact in price to where everyone can afford it on different levels of income and not break the bank. I personally would be happy to be able to have health insurance rather then be upset that the current AHCCCS only helps you if you have a child..... Thats not right and sends the wrong message if you ask me.
This one is an interesting one to discuss. There are a few points that I would like to make. First and foremost, the American culture is one for the records. We Americans have decided that we are not going to give or will try to prevent the government from having too much control in our personal lives, yet the government has jumped into the health care business. We have to be careful of who has what power and who controls the level of doctors and healthcare officials that we employ. The main reason why I state this is that doctors have a huge responsibility for the well-being for all of us. If we make it so that good doctors cannot afford to stay as doctors, the level of knowledge may suffer. I get it, I understand. We need to control costs as best as we can without sacrificing service. I just need to know that if we do sacrifice parts along the way- will we still have the quality of service. Maybe we will have mediocre doctors with a mediocre pay, maybe not.
After reading about the Affordable Care Act, I have decided there are things I like and things I do not, as with anything. I do like that everyone should be able to afford healthcare, however if you are unemployed like myself and have no children, like myself, and cannot be approved for State coverage, then how can someone like myself afford to pay a fine for not obtaining insurance. I have to kind of agree with one view that if the government can force us to buy health insurance, than they can force us to buy anything. I think this is true to a point. I have see over time how the government puts its hands in every little thing we do as Americans. From the tv we watch to the pushing healthy eating and excercise. I do not see why the government needs to be involved in our decisions like this. If I can get affordable healthcare under this act or have it provided to me through employment, then I guess I cant complain.
The decision means that millions of Americans who currently do not have coverage may now look forward to it to either "get healthy" or "stay healthy". This decision protects important improvements, such as ending coverage denials due to pre-existing conditions and lifetime caps on insurance, and allowing the 2.5 million young adults up to age 26 who gained coverage under the law to stay on their parents' health insurance policies. The expanded health care coverage upheld by the Supreme Court will allow patients to see their doctors earlier rather than waiting for treatment until they are sicker and care is more expensive.
The Supreme Court decision ensures continued funding for vital research on the effectiveness of drugs and therapies and improves the chances for millions of Americans to receive coverage for prevention and wellness care. The new law has already helped approximately 54 million patients.
I worry about not having insurance at some point. I worry about not being able to see my doctor when I need to. How am I supposed to feel better if I worry all the time how I am going to pay for the medical care I need?
I believe the recent Supreme Court decision was correct in requiring everyone to take responsibility for their healthcare. By requiring everyone to have health insurance it will hopefully lessen the cost of healthcare in the long run. And the specifics of making coverage available without preexisting conditions are great for everyone who has preexisting condition. I think a lot of people some how believe that they are going to have free healthcare. But the reality is it will be free for those people who are unemployed but for anyone who has a job even a part time waitress will have to pay for healthcare or pay a fine. At first the fines will be minimal approximately 95 dollars. but in three years the fines will be that of annual insurance premium which for most people will be approximately 4,000 dollars. I personally think this a good thing because more people will be paying for healthcare then they are now and hopefully this will reduce the cost of care for everyone. The way the law is written if a person sustains an injury that requires hospitalization they will have to pay the fine but in addition to that they will have to pay for their healthcare insurance. Under the current system a hospital and the doctors cannot turn a patient away if they do not have insurance and require hospitalization. In todays system those people are treated but then the cost of that treatment is then place on everyone who pays insurance and taxes. With the new system that same individual will still receive treatment pay a fine if they have not purchased health insurance and they will have to purchase health insurance, which will lessen the cost for everyone else. And those people who do not work, who do not pay taxes, who do not have any money will still be cared for and the cost of their care will be passed onto everyone else who now required to buy health insurance. I believe it was a good decision by the Supreme Court because it will now force anyone that has income to pay into the health care system. Unfortunately for those of us who do have income but are still struggling to pay their bills it does place a greater burden on us. But it will still be better for the Country in general. The wealthy that can afford insurance now will be able to afford it when the ACA is implemented. Those individuals who are unemployed, live in shelters or live on the street will now have insurance coverage and at least the doctors and the hospitals will be paid for their services where as in the current system they are not paid for their services. For those individuals who are employed perhaps even own their own house and have not had insurance because they a re gamboling that they do not need it and they want to say their money will now have to purchase that insurance. This will be better for society but it will be a little but more of a struggle for the middle class. I defiantly believe that their needs to be healthcare reform. I believe the Supreme Court made the right decision in up holding the individual mandate. But I hope that If the ACA is eventually over turn that they will be able to retain the positive aspects such as eliminating preexisting conditions and providing healthcare to children up to age 26 but hopefully they can do something that will lessen the burden that has now been placed on the already struggling middle class.
